Welcome to Upside Down Yoga Kids!
We are delighted to have you here! Our mission is to share the transformative power of Yoga and Arts & Crafts to help children reduce stress and regulate their emotions. We believe in fostering wellness while instilling values of mindfulness, creativity, and confidence.

Our Method

Our classes are designed to deliver a meaningful experience for children by integrating Yoga with Arts & Crafts. Each class allows participants to explore different themes, yoga postures, breathing techniques, and creative crafts. We have separate classes for children ages 3 to 6 and 6 to 12. Our classes include 30 minutes of Yoga followed by 30 minutes of Arts & Crafts. This class structure ensures a balanced and enriching experience for children. Our classes accommodate up to 12 students and are available in at Schools, Libraries and Community Centers.
Arts & Crafts
Integrating arts and crafts into our yoga classes enriches the learning experience by encouraging creativity and supporting emotional expression. Creative projects allow children to explore their imagination while reinforcing the themes and lessons introduced through yoga. Arts and crafts also provide a tactile and visual complement to movement practices, helping children process emotions, improve focus, and develop self-regulation skills. This integration creates a balanced environment where children can learn, create, and express themselves in ways that feel natural, enjoyable, and supportive of their overall development.
Yoga
Yoga for children should be a fun and engaging experience. Our classes introduce mindfulness, movement, and relaxation in an accessible and playful way. Through breathing exercises, imaginative themes, and creative movement, children develop strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination while also building focus, confidence, and emotional awareness. Children’s yoga encourages curiosity and self-expression, helping them form a positive connection with both body and mind. This holistic approach supports physical health, emotional well-being, and self-regulation, offering young learners meaningful tools they can carry into their everyday lives.
Social Skills
Why Integrate Yoga & Crafts?
Young children often have short attention spans, and their focus can shift quickly throughout the day. Incorporating arts and crafts as a complementary activity helps children remain engaged while still having fun. These creative moments encourage patience, cooperation, communication, and collaboration among students while providing opportunities for more individualized support. Working together on projects also helps children build confidence and strengthen their relationships with both teachers and peers. By combining movement, creativity, and shared experiences, classes become more dynamic, interactive, and supportive of social and emotional growth.

When this program was first envisioned, the goal was to offer dynamic yoga classes with occasional arts and crafts to support emotional expression. Over time, it became clear that children strongly connected with the creative activities and looked forward to them each class. Integrating both approaches increased engagement and helped improve focus and participation.
Yoga and arts & crafts naturally complement each other, allowing children to explore movement, creativity, and self-expression in a balanced way. Each class is themed to support physical development while also introducing values such as kindness, collaboration, mindfulness, and respect for others. This integrated approach creates a supportive environment for holistic growth.

Reviews
"Founder and yoga teacher Patricia is a jewel, and San Francisco is very fortunate to have her! She has run public library yoga/ meditation/art classes for kids, and families are met with a knowledgeable, compassionate, centered and organized teacher.
Patricia embraces children where they are, and if the age range and abilities of patrons vary (as they will) she will spontaneously change the poses and games so they appeal to everyone. We all need anchoring, and yoga is a perfect modality for this;

Patricia will nourish your child's ability to "ground" and relax, while at the same time making the experience fun!"

"As an Auxiliary Director, it is rare to find a vendor that completely matches our school vision. Our kids from Presidio Knolls love her classes. Her fusion of movement and yoga is great for their little bodies and minds." Samantha Wilcox
"Upside Down Yoga Kids was the highlight of our son's year. Patricia is absolutely great with kids. She can catch their attention and quickly make it fun to practice yoga. Our son quickly learned some breathing exercises which have helped him to remain calm and focused whenever he needs to - he is only two! It is fascinating to see a kid get interested in doing downward-facing dog and breathing in motions at such a young age. Couldn't recommend Patricia's classes enough." Carolina Duppas
"We have had a wonderful experience working with Upside Down Yoga Kids as an after-school vendor at Presidio Knolls School. Patricia shows great care in creating engaging and fun classes for our students"! Olivia Sorells
